Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Burlington Cougars, February 9, 2024

The Milton Menace will finish their string of five straight road games by visiting the Burlington Cougars on Friday night.

The Menace will be looking to regroup after a tight 3-2 loss to the Georgetown Raiders on Wednesday. By seven minutes into the second period, Milton had allowed both a power play and shorthanded goal, putting them down 2-0. They quickly respond, with Joseph Macchione scoring his eighth of the season just a minute later. Ivan Fabjan scored a power-play goal near the end of the second period, tying the game at two. Just when it looked like the teams may need overtime to solve the game, the Raiders scored to take the lead. The Menace were left with 1:32 to try and strike back but, unfortunately, were not able to.

The Cougars are on a four-game win streak, handily winning their most recent two games. In those two games alone, they outscored their opponents 25-6. They have scored at least five goals in each game of the win streak. They sit sixth in the West Conference, just one point behind the Raiders, who have played two more games. They have a 23-16-0-6 record this season.

The teams split their previous two meetings this season. Their most recent game was on December 1st when Burlington won 5-2 on their home ice. They will meet once more to close out the regular season in March. As noted, the Burlington offence is clicking, which means Milton must play clean defensively to limit their opportunities. The Menace cannot allow the Cougars to get extra shots off, as they will capitalize. Milton will need a strong performance to get a win on Burlington ice, especially because of how hot the Cougars have been lately.

The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Central Arena in Burlington. You can stream the game on FloHockey. The Menace’s social media accounts will also post updates as the game progresses.
