Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Buffalo Jr. Sabres – October 6, 2023

After almost a week off, the Milton Menace are back at the Milton Memorial Arena to take on the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. Milton will be looking for their fourth straight win on Friday night.

The Menace had a chance to rest after their 2-0 weekend, which ended with a 5-2 win over the Dukes in Wellington. Madden MacDougall scored twice, while Ivan Fabjan, Gavin Sheehan and Alessandro Petreccia each added one. Ariel Zaslaver made 25 saves to help Milton pick up the win.

The Jr. Sabres are looking to get back in the win column after a 4-1 loss to the Oakville Blades on Wednesday. Their record is 5-4-0-1 in the first 10 games of the season. The Jr. Sabres sit fifth in the West Conference, just four points behind the Menace who are in second. Friday’s meeting will be the first of four meetings between the two teams.

While Milton’s special teams have performed well, they’ve been better on the road compared to when playing home ice so Friday will be a good opportunity to work on this. Buffalo has struggled with special teams on the road, especially their penalty kill. Milton will need to take advantage of Buffalo’s struggling penalty kill when given the opportunity. This could be a major difference maker in Friday’s game.

Connor Driscoll still leads the team in points with 14. Justin O’Donnell is right behind with 13 points in 10 games played. Offence continues to be a full team effort with goal scoring coming from up and down the lineup. This is a factor that separates Milton from other teams.

Be sure to grab your tickets for Friday’s game at Milton Memorial Arena. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. If you can’t make it out, stream the game on FloHockey.
