It was a good weekend to be a Milton Menace fan!
There were two games this past weekend. It started with Friday night action against the Burlington Cougars at the Milton Memorial Arena.
Things did not go well to begin the game, as the Cougars jumped out to a two goal lead in the first period. It was 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
In the second period, Burlington made it 3-0 before Gavin Sheehan was able to get the Menace on the board with his first of the OJHL season. It was assisted by Tristan Tremble and Marcus Tryfon. Before the end of the frame, Aidan Puley brought the game close with his fifth of the season. His goal was assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Graeme Macauley. It was 3-2 Burlington after two periods.
The third period was a battle, with the Menace eventually tying the game at the 15:04 mark. It was captain Connor Driscoll scoring his fourth of the year, assisted by Macauley and Justin O’Donnell. Just a few minutes later, before the game could go to overtime, Alessandro Petreccia buried his fourth goal of the season, assisted by Driscoll and O’Donnell. The Menace would win 4-3.
Glen Crandall was in net for Milton. He stopped 24 of 27 shots, good for an .888% save percentage.
On Sunday, the Menace went to Wellington to take on the Dukes. Madden MacDougall opened the scoring for Milton, getting his second of the season. It was assisted Aidan Puley and Nicholas Wereha. Before the end of the first period, the Dukes would score a shorthanded goal to tie it up. That powerplay for Milton ended up being fruitful though, as Ivan Fabjan netted his third of the year. It was assisted by Justin O’Donnell and Owen Kindree. It was 2-1 Milton after 20-minutes.
The second period started off rocky for the Menace. The Dukes tied things up just three minutes into the frame. That was answered by Gavin Sheehan, as he added his second goal of the weekend (and the year). It was assisted by Jayden Levesque and Markus Hicks. Alessandro Petreccia then added to the lead, with his fifth goal. Alexander Siletsky and Ivan Fabjan were credited with the assists. It was 4-2 Milton after 40-minutes.
The third period was close, but it was Madden MacDougall netting an empty netter late in the game to give the Menace the three-goal cushion. They won 5-2.
Ariel Zaslaver was the netminder this time for Milton. He stopped 25 of 27 shots, giving him a slightly better .925% save percentage.
The Menace will have most of the week off before they return to the ice on Friday, October 6th. They’ll take on the Buffalo Jr. Sabres at the Milton Memorial Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Milton Menace home tickets for this OJHL season can be found here.
