Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs. Georgetown Raiders, Exhibition – September 1, 2023
We are nearing the start of the 2023-24 OJHL season but not before a final exhibition meeting for the Milton Menace. They will host the Georgetown Raiders on Friday for their last pre-season tune-up.
The Menace have found success throughout the exhibition schedule, winning each of their four games. This includes a 7-4 win over Brantford on August 24 and a 5-1 win over Aurora on August 27. Georgetown comes into the game with a 2-2 pre-season record.
The Menace have scored at least five goals in each of their exhibition games so far and while these games aren’t a direct indicator of how the season will go, it is reasonable to predict that the Menace will have a strong offensive presence throughout the year.
The Menace come into the new season looking to build on last season’s success. The team finished the regular season fifth in the North/West Conference with a record of 31-19-2-2. Milton was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by the Collingwood Blues who would go on to become the OJHL Champions.
Although the Milton squad said goodbye to many impactful players at the end of last season, the Menace have brought in new faces and will look to veterans such as newly appointed captain Connor Driscoll and forward Justin O’Donnell to lead the way. Driscoll had three points in the team’s win against Brantford while O’Donnell picked up a goal and an assist in Sunday’s game against Aurora.
The final preseason puck drop for the Menace comes at 6:45 p.m. from Sherwood Arena. The regular season will begin in just a week on September 8, when the Menace host Brantford.
