While we wait for the results from the federal election, let’s check in on the Milton Menace.
Monday, April 28th was the date for game five of the OJHL Finals. The Menace found themselves down 3-1 in the series against the Trenton Golden Hawks heading into Duncan Memorial Gardens. One more loss, and the journey would be over.
It was Dean Deligeorgis who kicked things off for the Menace, scoring his 1st of the postseason just over two minutes into the game. It was assisted by Cole Semeniuk. Trenton was able to respond, leading to a 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
In the second period, the Golden Hawks jumped out to a quick lead after scoring early on. It was the powerplay that saved the Menace, as Ivan Fabjan buried his 11th of the Playoffs, assisted by Justin Dezoete and Semeniuk. With less than a minute to go, Dezoete would get his own on the powerplay. His 6th was assisted by Ryder Cali and Captain Graeme MacAuley. Milton took a 3-2 lead into the final frame.
The Menace would then turtle, finding themselves out shot 11-5 in the third period. The defensive strategy worked, as they’d work their ways into an empty net goal with just over a minute to go. It was Fabjan scoring his second of the game, this time unassisted. Milton beat Trenton 4-2 to keep themselves alive.
Carter Bickle was in net for the Menace. He stopped 29 of 31 shots for the .935% save percentage and the win.
The Menace will now look to tie the series up in game six, which is set for Wednesday, April 30th at the Milton Memorial Arena. Game time is listed for 7:30 p.m.
