Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Wellington Dukes – October 1, 2023
The Milton Menace are hitting the road on Sunday for an afternoon game in Wellington against the Dukes. After a strong month of September, the Menace will try to kick October off with a win.
The Menace come into Sunday looking to build on Friday’s come-from-behind victory against Burlington. Milton scored four unanswered goals to win 4-3 in regulation. The Menace got down 3-0 early in the second period, but they didn’t let the game get away from them. Gavin Sheehan and Aidan Puley got Milton back within one heading into the third. Captain Connor Driscoll scored the game-tying goal with just under five minutes to play and with 1:39 to go in regulation, Alessandro Petreccia found the back of the net for the game-winner.
Wellington is looking to get back in the win column after two straight losses, including Friday’s 6-3 loss to the Markham Royals. They currently sit fifth in the East Conference with a record of 5-3-0-2 on the season. This is the only meeting between Wellington and Milton this season.
These two teams have scored close to the same number of goals with Milton at 43 and Wellington at 42 but the Dukes have allowed almost double the number of goals against. Milton’s team defence will be key in Sunday’s game.
The Menace have played in numerous tight games so far this season and have proven that they can stick with it until the end, never counting themselves out. They can erase any deficit thrown their way which will always be a beneficial asset. The Menace have had a successful start to the season but they’ll need to continue to build on their strengths to stay at the top of the West Conference.
Puck drop from Lehigh Arena in Wellington is set for 2:30 p.m. and the game can be streamed on FloHockey. Be sure to follow the Menace’s social media accounts for game updates.
