Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Leamington Flyers, Round 2 Game 2 – March 24, 2024

The Milton Menace are taking a trip to Leamington to visit the Flyers for game two of the West Conference Semifinal. The Flyers lead the series 1-0.

The Menace fell 4-3, losing in double overtime of game one on Friday. The Menace got an early lead, scoring two goals less than ten seconds apart in the first period. Connor Driscoll and Justin O’Donnell each picked up their second goal of the playoffs. The Flyers got one back before the end of the first and tied the game on the power play in the second. Leamington scored the go-ahead goal with the man advantage in the third period, and Miton quickly matched it with a power play of their own. The score held to overtime, and neither team could end it in the first period. Leamington scored the winner 3:08 into the second overtime period. The Flyers outshot the Menace 28-26 in game one.

Friday’s game marked the Menace’s second double-overtime loss of the playoffs, as they lost game four of the first round to the Burlington Cougars in a similar fashion. The Menace have done a great job responding after a loss, as they never lost more than two games in a row during the regular season. They will regroup and look to respond strongly after a tough loss. After giving up a two-goal lead in game one, the Menace will need to adjust to better protect leads in this series. Leamington is relentless and will make you work for your win. Game one was extremely tight, which is indicative of how we can expect future games in this series to go.

The Menace have played well in Leamington this season, winning both visits. They won 3-0 on November 16th and 4-3 on February 1st. This is a positive as they head to Leamington for game two, looking to tie the series.

Sunday’s game starts at 5:10 p.m. at Leamington’s Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre. If you aren’t making the trip to Leamington, check out the game on FloHockey. The Menace will also provide live updates on their social media accounts.
