Luke Johnston of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Milton Menace has confirmed his commitment to join U SPORTS’ Dalhousie University Tigers in Halifax, NS beginning with the 2025-26 season.
Johnston, 20, joined the Menace following a mid-season trade with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. He played the previous two seasons with the Oakville Blades of the OJHL.
He leads the Menace with a combined 61 points (29 goals/32 assists).
“My time with Milton has been nothing but the best,” Johnston told the OJHL. “Playing under great coaching and with amazing players has helped me take my game to the next level.
“Playing In the OJHL the past couple years has been a great help in my development as a hockey player and helped me reach my goal of playing hockey at the next level.”
Why Dalhousie?
“I chose Dalhousie because I think the fit is perfect for me,” he said. “The town, schooling and athletics all really impressed me and I think that they were the best choice to help me continue my hockey career.”
Menace GM/Head Coach Dan Del Monte sees big things in Johnston’s future.
“Luke has had an enormous impact on our team since he was acquired,” Del Monte said. “His production on the ice speaks for itself, but also in the room he has been a leader and a driving force behind our team’s success.
“It is a great accomplishment to commit to Dalhousie both academically and for the incredible level of hockey played in the AUS. The sky is the limit for Luke in his hockey career.”
The Menace are home to Caledon at Milton Memorial Arena tonight.
Former OJHLers on this year’s Dalhousie roster include Jack Harper (Burlington Cougars) and Ryan Smith (Wellington Dukes, Collingwood Colts).
Congratulations to Luke and best of luck in U SPORTS!
