Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Oakville Blades – October 20, 2023
The Milton Menace are heading on the road this Friday to take on the Oakville Blades at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex.
The Menace are looking to get back in the win column after losing 7-5 to the Toronto Patriots last Sunday. Sett Ursomarzo and Madden MacDougall scored in the opening period, while the Patriots put up four goals to take the lead. Aidan Puley and Ursomarzo tied it up in the second, but the Patriots added another two, sending the Menace into the third down by two. Connor Driscoll’s goal in the third wasn’t enough, and the Patriots scored on the empty net, holding on for the win. Sunday was the Menace’s first loss since September 26.
The Blades are coming into Friday’s game off a 5-3 loss to Georgetown. Before that loss, Oakville had won seven in a row. The Blades sit four points behind Milton in the standings with two games in hand. Their record is 8-3-0-1 in 12 games played. This game will be the first of four meetings between the Menace and Blades.
The Menace penalty kill will need to be strong in Friday’s game as they are up against the league’s second-ranked power play. It will be key for Milton to play a disciplined game and not allow any extra opportunities for the Blades. The good news for Menace fans is that the Menace’s penalty kill ranks in the top third of the league, allowing just eight goals in 41 times shorthanded. If given a power play, the Blades will be a good test for the Menace’s penalty kill units. Milton’s penalty kill and power play rank sixth in the league and will be an important factor when looking to grab the win in Oakville.
Friday’s puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. from Oakville. Follow along on the Menace’s social media for game updates or stream the game live on FloHockey.
