Special teams play was the difference maker for the Menace Friday night in Burlington.

Milton scored twice with the man-advantage and added two shorthanded goals in rallying to outdistance the Cougars 6-4 – lifting them to 35-12-2-1.

With just six games remaining in the regular season, the Menace continue to hold a one-point lead for second in the OJHL’s West Conference over Collingwood – who have two games in hand.

Tristan Tremble recorded both shorthanded goals for Milton, including one with 15 seconds left to seal the deal.

Scoring in each period was Ivan Fabjan, while Jason Zhou notched the winner with 4:14 left in the third – on one of his team’s three powerplay goals.

Fabjan’s hat-trick included a buzzer beater just a second before first intermission, after Burlington jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Austin McKillop stopped 23 of 27 shots for the narrow victory.

The Menace close out the weekend back at Memorial Arena Sunday at 6 p.m., when they take on the league-leading Toronto Patriots.
