Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Pickering Panthers – January 28, 2024

The Milton Menace are hitting the road on Sunday for an evening game against the Pickering Panthers.

Milton is looking to build off a massive 4-2 win over the Georgetown Raiders on Friday night. Johnny Mead opened the scoring with a power play goal. Madden MacDougall added one short-handed in the second period while the Raiders also got on the board to cut the Menace lead in half. Aidan Puley scored in the third, and Georgetown brought themselves back within one. The highlight of the night was a goal from Milton goaltender Glen Crandall. He scored the insurance marker on the empty Georgetown net with 12 seconds remaining in the game. In addition to the goal, Crandall made 25 saves in the win.

Pickering has lost two straight games and will look to change their luck on Sunday. They fell 5-3 to the Aurora Tigers on Friday and currently sit 10th in the East Conference with a 15-25-1-4 record. The Panthers are 13 points behind the Lindsay Muskies, who now hold the last playoff spot.

This is the only meeting between Pickering and Milton this regular season. These two teams met in the first round of the 2023 OJHL playoffs, and the Menace took the series 4-1. Milton must set the pace early and force Pickering to play to their speed. As we inch closer to the playoffs, the Menace want to continue to find wins and ensure themselves the highest possible position in the standings. This will be their final game of January, and they’ll look to end the month on a high note.

Puck drop at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex is set for 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. If you aren’t making the trip to Pickering, be sure to watch the game live on FloHockey. The Menace will also provide game updates on their social media accounts.
