Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Georgetown Raiders- January 26, 2024

The Milton Menace are set for an all-Halton Region Friday night showdown when they welcome their opponents, the Georgetown Raiders, to Milton Memorial Arena.

The Menace are looking to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to the Markham Royals last Sunday. Milton got down 2-0 in the first period and had to try to fight back from the deficit. Early in the second period, Ivan Fabjan got the Menace on the board with a power play goal. The Royals scored with under a minute to go in the period, reinstating their two-goal lead with 20 minutes to play. Alessandro Petreccia cut Markham’s lead back to one, but Milton was unable to make a complete comeback, resulting in their third loss in their last five games.

Georgetown is coming into Friday’s game off a 3-2 win over the Mississauga Chargers last Saturday. They are 3-2 in their last five games. The Raiders sit sixth in the West Conference with a record of 21-16-0-4 and 46 points. They are just one point behind the Oakville Blades, who have games in hand and are tied in points with the Burlington Cougars, who sit in seventh. This makes every win crucial to their spot in the standings.

The Menace are also in a tight standings race. The Leamington Flyers and Milton are tied in points, but the Menace still have two games in hand on the Flyers. This has Milton sitting in second place in the West Conference as they look to pick up critical points on Friday and create some space in the standings.

Friday’s game will be the third meeting between these teams this season. Milton came out victorious in both previous games, outscoring Georgetown 10-4. They’ll meet again for the final time of the regular season on February 7th.
