Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Cobourg Cougars, February 26, 2024

The Milton Menace are hitting the road on Monday night to play the Cobourg Cougars. The Menace will look to make it seven straight wins.

The Menace picked up a 5-1 win over the Mississauga Chargers on Beach Night at the Milton Memorial Arena on Friday. Joseph Macchione scored a power-play goal early in the first period to get the Menace on the board. The Chargers struck back, but Graeme Macauley added a power-play goal to ensure Milton went into the intermission ahead. Jayden Levesque scored the lone goal of the second period to put the Menace up 3-1. The third period saw goals from Madden MacDougall and Connor Driscoll to secure the Menace’s victory. Forbes Anderson picked up another win between the pipes.

This win brought Milton to 80 points on the season, setting a franchise record. The previous record was 79 points, set during the 2021-22 season. In addition, Driscoll has officially become the franchise record holder for points in a single season with his 77th point. The previous record holder was Aidan Hughes, who recorded 76 points last season.

The Cougars played on Sunday night against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens and lost 4-1. The Cougars sit seventh in the East Conference with a 29-16-3-4 record, giving them 65 points. With four games remaining, they will try to move up the standings to secure the most favourable playoff matchup possible. Monday’s game is the only meeting between Cobourg and Milton in this regular season.

As mentioned, the Menace have won six straight and are looking for a seventh on Monday. Milton has played strong hockey of late and will want to continue this level of play as they head into the playoffs. Like the Cougars, they have four regular season games left to play.

Monday’s puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre. As always, the game will be available on FloHockey, and the Menace will provide game updates through their social media accounts.
