Milton Menace Preview: Menace vs Burlington Cougars, Round 1 Game 3- March 13, 2024
The Milton Menace are returning home on Wednesday for game three of the first round with a 2-0 series lead over the Burlington Cougars.
Game two of the series was played on Sunday in Burlington, and the Menace shut the Cougars out 4-0. The win was a strong showing for the Menace, who put 42 shots on the Cougars. Alexander Siletsky scored late in the first period to give Milton the lead. The second period was scoreless, but the Menace put three goals on the board in the third. Gavin Sheehan scored one, and Nick Wereha picked up the other two. Glen Crandall stopped all 22 shots that he faced. Sunday marked the first win for the visiting team in a game between Burlington and Milton this season.
The Menace have won three straight games against Burlington, dating back to the regular season. Burlington is on a four-game losing streak as they lost their final two games of the regular season and the first two games of the playoffs.
Game three is usually pivotal in a series. If the Menace win, they will go up 3-0 in the series, requiring Burlington to complete a reverse sweep to advance to the second round. The Menace have not lost more than two straight games all season. If the Cougars can pull off a win in Milton, they will cut the Menace’s series lead in half and swing the momentum. As mentioned before game two, Burlington was significantly better at home than on the road this season, so stealing a win on Menace home ice will take a near-perfect game, especially with the Menace’s recent level of play.
The stage is set for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop as the Menace look to go up 3-0 in the series at the Milton Memorial Arena. Grab your tickets for the game on the Menace’s website to come out and support Milton on their quest for the Buckland Cup. If you can’t be there in person, the game
will be available on FloHockey. There will also be updates on the Menace’s social media accounts.
