Milton Menace Preview: Menace at Burlington Cougars, Round 1 Game 2- March 10, 2024
The Milton Menace are playing their first road playoff game on Sunday when they visit the Burlington Cougars for game two of the opening round. The Menace lead 1-0 in the series.
Friday’s game one was a great start to the series for the Menace, as they took the 3-1 win. Johnny Mead opened the scoring near the end of the first period. Gavin Sheehan and Aidan Puley scored goals in the second to give the Menace a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. The Cougars scored in the third, but it wasn’t enough to get them back in the game. Milton outshot Burlington 36-25, and Forbes Anderson was solid between the pipes for the Menace.
The Menace now have two straight wins against the Cougars dating back to the last game of the regular season. The Cougars have lost three in a row, including regular-season losses to Trenton and Milton.
During the regular season, Milton and Burlington played four times, with each team winning twice. In those games, the home team always came out victorious. As we saw, that trend held true in game one of this series. Milton will look to change the script on Sunday when they visit Burlington. The Menace had almost identical records at home and on the road during the regular season, winning just one more win on the road. Playing away from the Milton Memorial Arena has not limited their ability to win, and they’ll use that confidence to find a win on Sunday. Burlington had a significantly better record at home during the regular season, so they’ll look to take advantage of their strong home-ice play.
Sunday’s game is set for 3:00 p.m. from Central Arena in Burlington as the Menace look to go up 2-0 in the series. If you aren’t making the trip to Burlington, the game will be available to stream on FloHockey. Stay tuned to the Menace’s social media accounts for game updates.
