Solid netminding factors heavily into narrow win

A rare natural hat-trick powered the Menace out of their recent funk. Just barely.

Ashtyn Pacheco scored his ninth, 10th and 11th of the season in the first 13 minutes of Sunday evening’s clash with the Newmarket Hurricanes at Memorial Arena.

From there, Josh Currie added to the 3-0 start early in the second period. His marker proved to be the difference, as the visitors answered back with three straight goals before a scoreless final frame.

It put the brakes on a three-game losing streak and lifted Milton to 12-4-2-1.

With his Menace outshot 30-10 in the final two periods, Carter Froggett served as the equalizer, turning back 27 saves for his third win between the pipes this season.

Alec Stewart finished the night with three assists.

The Menace will close out a two-game home stand this coming Friday (Nov. 7), looking for payback against the Collingwood Blues, who took a home-and-home series against them last month.

Game time, as always, is 7:30 p.m.
