Lopsided victory follows busy trade day for local juniors

Busy on both the trade and scoring front Friday, the Menace struck early and often to dismantle Caledon 8-0 at Memorial Arena.

The lopsided affair – which included assists from newly-acquired defencemen Brad Wassink and Sam Pye – saw 15 Milton players record points in lifting their team to 27-8-2-1.

Austin McKillop blanked his former team with a 35-save performance, including 18 in the second period, for his third Jr. A shutout and second of the season.

He sits second in the OJHL in both goals-against average (1.85) and save percentage (.939).

Dean Deligeorgis closed out the onslaught in the dying seconds of play to add to his three assists, while Nathan Catalano also stood out with a goal and two helpers.

Jason Zhou and Dallys Hibbert each had a goal and an assist, with Gabe Runco, Josh Currie, Alec Stewart and Ashtyn Pacheco rounding out the scoring.

The Menace capitalized on four powerplays and scored four times in the first period en route to victory.

Hours earlier Milton acquired four players and said goodbye to three others.

Most notably, forward Gabriel Ciarallo was sent to Pickering, while the Menace and Newmarket swapped goalies – bringing Hayden Duncan to town in exchange for Carter Froggett and forward Matthew Babiy.

Continuing to hold down third place in the West Conference, Milton is in Oakville and Mississauga Wednesday before starting a three-game home stand Friday, Jan. 16 against Niagara Falls.
