Local juniors can clinch West championship in Leamington Sunday

The Menace sit on the doorstep of OJHL West Conference supremacy.

With two goals and an assist by young gun Ryder Cali, Milton toppled the Leamington Flyers 4-1 Friday at a packed Memorial Arena to put a three-games-to-one stranglehold on the series.

Three unanswered goals in the third period – including last-minute empty netters by Cali and captain Graeme MacAuley – lifted the hosts to victory.

Ashtyn Pacheco netted the game winner early in the third.

For the fourth time in as many games, the Menace kept their opposition scoreless in the final frame.

They killed off all six penalties — five straight in the second period — and got a big 37-save performance from Carter Bickle, who now sports a 1.93 goals against average and .940 save per centage.

The Menace can dispose of the Flyers Sunday evening in Leamington. If necessary, game six will be played at Memorial Arena Tuesday, starting at 7:30 p.m.
