Milton Menace maul Cougars in playoff opener

Big guns shine in lopsided victory over Burlington

Now that’s how to start the playoffs.

Firing on all cylinders in front of a packed Memorial Arena Friday night, the Menace racked up four powerplay goals and added a late shorthanded tally to dismantle the Cougars 7-1.

With a new sense of purpose after closing out the regular season with a depleted lineup and a subsequent whimper, Milton had six unanswered goals en route to the decisive victory.

Well rested after sitting out much of the previous week, the Menace’s big guns were all in peak form.

Luke Johnston had two goals and a pair of assists, with Madden MacDougall and Ivan Fabjan also tallying twice.

Justin Dezoete had a goal and four assists, with captain Graeme MacAuley collecting four assists and Ryder Cali recording two helpers.

The penalty-filled affair saw Milton out-shoot their guests 50-32, with Carter Bickle in net for the win.

The Menace will look to keep things rolling in game two of the best-of-seven series Monday at Central Arena, while game three is back at Memorial Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. start.
