The Milton Menace will need to hit the drawing board this week.

Coming into Friday, October 24th, the Menace had lost in back-to-back games against the Collingwood Blues – the first of which coming in overtime. It’d be easy to write the two losses off as a non-issue considering the Menace had just won a big game against the Trenton Golden Hawks prior.

Well, the Menace welcomed the Oakville Blades into the Milton Memorial Arena for their annual Hockey Fights Cancer game. It was the first match-up of the season for the two teams.

The Blades jumped out to an early lead thanks to a powerplay marker in the first two minutes. Thankfully, Ashtyn Pacheco would score his 7th of the season about ten minutes later, assisted by Easton Lynds and Brayden Turley. It was 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

No scoring would occur in the second period, with the Menace drawing two penalties and exchanging roughing calls late in the frame. It’d stay 1-1 after 40 minutes of action.

In the final period, Oakville would take the lead late thanks to the man advantage. It was too much too late for the Menace, and despite outshooting the Blades 45-20 in the game, they lost 2-1.

Carter Froggett was in net for Milton. He stopped 18 of 20 shots for the even .900% save percentage.

It was a quick turnaround for the Menace, who had to hit the road on Sunday, October 26th to play the Leamington Flyers.

The Menace never quite got their offence going, as the Flyers quickly took advantage with a 2-0 lead in the first period.

In the second period, Josh Currie would get things close thanks to the powerplay, burying his 8th of the year, assisted by Dante D’Andrea and Tristan Tremble. It was 2-1 Leamington after 40 minutes.

The Flyers would add to their lead in the finale frame, giving them a 4-1 win over the Menace.

Austin McKillop was the Menace netminder this time around. He stopped 24 of 28 shots, giving him an .857% save percentage.

Milton will stay on the road this week, as they head south to play the Buffalo Jr. Sabres on Wednesday, October 29th. Game time at the Lecom Harborcenter is set for 7:30 p.m.

They return home on Friday, October 31st for a Halloween match-up against the Mississauga Chargers. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
