The Milton Menace returned to the ice for the first time of the new year, and it fell flat.

They welcomed in the Stouffville Spirit to the Milton Memorial Arena on Sunday, January 4th.

Things started off strong for the boys as Tristan Tremble was able to score his 12th of the year, assisted by Gabriel Ciarallo and Wolf Giles, to take a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Spirit then tied it up late to keep it 1-1 heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, the Spirit took over. They scored three straight goals to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes of action.

They’d add a fifth goal in the final frame, with Milton getting one back before the final horn. It was Giles scoring his 14th of the season (2nd with Milton), assisted by Seth Vreugdenhil and Josh Currie. Stouffville beat Milton 5-2.

Carter Froggett started the game in net for Milton. He was chased, giving up four goals on 15 shots for the .733% save percentage and loss. Austin McKillop came in for relief, and he performed a bit better. He stopped 17 of 18 shots for the .944% save percentage.

It’s a quick turnaround for Milton, as they will hit the road on Wednesday, January 7th to play the Wellington Dukes at the Lehigh Arena Wellington. Game time is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

They return home on Friday, January 9th to host the Caledon Admirals at the Milton Memorial Arena. That one will start at 7:30 p.m.
