The Milton Menace had a tough long weekend ahead of them, and they came out with a solid pair of performances.

On Friday, October 10th, the Menace travelled to Trenton to take on the Golden Hawks in a rematch of the OJHL Finals from earlier this year.

Trenton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Milton quickly answered back with a goal from Josh Currie. His 6th of the year was assisted by Easton Lynds and Dean Deligeorgis. Despite the Golden Hawks retaking the lead while shorthanded, the Menace didn’t deter from pressing onward. Gavin Sheehan retied the game with his 2nd of the season, assisted by Tristan Tremble and Brody Leet. That was then followed up with a goal from Alec Stewart – his 6th, assisted by Nathan Catalano and Currie. It was 3-2 Milton after 20 minutes of action.

In the second period, Trenton dominated the scoresheet, retaking the lead with a pair of goals, and outshooting the Menace 16-13. It was 4-3 Trenton heading into the final frame.

It took more than half the period, but Leets would get a goal of his own, assisted by Lynds. Trenton would take back the lead, but with less than four minutes to go, Marcus Tryfon played hero with his 1st of the year, assisted by Ivan Fabjan and Gabriel Ciarallo. That left things tied after three periods, leading to overtime.

That didn’t last long as Lynds needed just 1:45 to pot the game winner, giving the Menace the 6-5 win over Trenton.

Austin McKillop was busy in net for Milton, stopping 31 of 36 shots. That gave him a less-than-stellar .861% save percentage – but also the win!

It was a quick turnaround for the Menace, as they returned home on Sunday, October 12th to play the Collingwood Blues for some Thanksgiving action.

Milton jumped out to the lead in the opening frame, with Ivan Fabjan burying his 6th of the year, assisted by Alec Stewart and Ashtyn Pacheco. They weren’t done there, as Easton Lynds added his 5th of the year, assisted by Tristan Tremble and Brody Leet. It was 2-0 Menace heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, Collingwood tied things up with a pair of goals. The Blues also outshot the Menace 15-10 in the middle frame.

The Menace really put the pressure on the Blues in the third period, dominating the shot chart 12-4 thanks to three powerplay attempts. It would prove to be uneventful, forcing the game to go to overtime once again.

Unlike on Friday, it was the opposing team who struck early. Collingwood potted the game winner just three minutes into the first overtime frame. That gave the Blues the 3-2 OT win over Milton.

Back-up Carter Froggett was in net for the Menace this game. He did his job, stopping 30 of 33 shots, giving him the .909% save percentage.

The Menace and Blues will be back at it again on Friday, October 17th, this time at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena in Collingwood. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

This will be a somewhat long road stretch for the Menace as they won’t return home until late next week. They host the Oakville Blades on Friday, October 24th. Buy your tickets for any/all home games here.
