The Milton Menace are moving on to the second round of the OJHL playoffs!

On Friday, March 15th, the Menace went into game four with a 3-0 series lead. They had a chance to sweep their cross-Region rivals and do so in Burlington’s Central Arena.

It was the Cougars who scored first, and they carried that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, Justin O’Donnell scored his 1st of the playoffs, with assists from Sett Ursomarzo and Graeme Macauley. The tie game didn’t last long, as Burlington would score again just a few minutes later. They led 2-1 after 40-minutes of action.

Owen Kindree was the hero for Milton, scoring late in the third period to tie the game. His 1st goal of the series was assisted by Nicholas Wereha and Ashtyn Pacheco. The 2-2 game went into overtime.

If the Menace scored in overtime, they would advance to the next round. It wasn’t meant to be that night, as Burlington would get the game winner 15-minutes into the extra frame. They would live to fight another day, winning 3-2.

Glen Crandall was in net for Milton, stopping 50 of 53 shots. That gave him a .943% save percentage.

With Burlington getting the win, game five was held on Sunday, March 17th at the Milton Memorial Arena.

907 people packed the Madhouse for a St. Patrick’s Day playoff hockey game.

Once again, Burlington would be the first on the board. They’d take another 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, Aidan Puley got on the scoresheet, burying his 2nd of the playoffs. It was assisted by Connor Driscoll and Graeme Macauley. It was 1-1 after two periods.

The Menace offence woke up in the third period. Ivan Fabjan broke the seal eight minutes into the frame, assisted by Driscoll and Puley. A few minutes later, Puley would score again, with Driscoll getting another apple alongside Joseph Macchione. A late goal by Burlington wouldn’t be enough, as the Menace would get the 3-2 win over the Burlington Cougars, and thus, winning the first round series 4-1.

The Menace will now play the Leamington Flyers in the second round. We’ll let you know when the schedule is announced.
