Defenceman Freddie Ilias of the Ontario Junior Hockey Leagueâs Milton Menace (photo credit â Ryan McCullough | OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division III Skidmore College Thoroughbreds in Saratoga Springs, NY beginning with the 2021-22 season.
The native of Oakville joined the Menace ahead of their inaugural season in the OJHL, 2019-20, from the Connecticut Chiefs of the EHL.
He had five goals and 29 assists in 48 games while wearing an âAâ in Milton.
âMy time with Milton was every junior hockey playerâs dream,â Ilias told the OJHL. âI was a part of a brand-new organization that was in an amazing location, was surrounded by the best staff, top to bottom, and had some great teammates to share the journey with. It was my most memorable junior year and will always be.â
âBoth (coaches) Dan Del Monte and Peter Drikos were a huge part of my success with the Milton Menace as they not only believed in me right from the start, but pushed me to be better day in and day out, never settling for just being average. My commitment to Skidmore College would not have been possible without the support and guidance of those within the menace organization. I am thrilled to be a part of the very first considered a Milton Menace alum.â
Congratulations to Freddie and best of luck in the NCAA!
The OJHL, the largest Jr. A hockey league in Canada, has had more than 120 NCAA, U Sports, CHL and professional commitments in 2019-20 â including more than 45 NCAA Division I scholarships.
