Milton Menace Weekly Recap: February 27, 2024

It was another 3-0 week of hockey for the Milton Menace. The team is currently on a seven-game win streak as they head into the final week of the season.

The Menace’s successful week started on Wednesday against the Toronto Patriots. They won 6-2 and recorded 45 shots on their opponent. Ivan Fabjan had four assists on the night. Wednesday’s game gave the Menace a 3-1 win in their season series against the Patriots.

On Friday, Milton hosted Beach Night at the Milton Memorial Arena and topped the Mississauga Chargers 5-1. They had a strong offensive night in their specialty jerseys, scoring two power-play goals. Aidan Puley and Graeme Macauley led the team with three points each.

The Menace ended their week on Monday night with a dominant 6-2 win over the Cobourg Cougars. Gavin Sheehan, Madden MacDougall, Justin O’Donnell, and Connor Driscoll all had a multi-point game. The Menace scored three power-play goals, but they also allowed one while on the penalty kill and one when the Cougars were short-handed. Monday night marked the Menace’s 40th win of the season.

Over the week’s games, Milton outscored their opponents 17-5 and played clean on both sides of the puck. Menace goaltenders Forbes Anderson and Glen Crandall performed well this past week and continue to be an asset to the team. Their high level of play has been crucial to the Menace’s success all season.

Last week, Milton reached 80 points on the season, setting a franchise record. The previous record of 79 points was set during the 2021-22 season. They still sit second in the West Conference and third overall with 82 points and a 40-11-2-0 record. In addition, Driscoll broke the franchise record for points in a single season with his 77th point. Aidan Hughes previously held the record.

The Menace will play against the Oakville Blades on Wednesday at home. They will then take a trip to visit the league-leading Collingwood Blues on Friday, followed by their final game of the regular season when they’ll host the Burlington Cougars.
