The Milton Menace wrapped up their Governors’ Showcase with a commanding 5-1 victory over the Trenton Golden Hawks, marking back-to-back wins in the showcase. The Menace opened the scoring late in the first period, with Kyle Burton finding the back of the net at 14:39, assisted by Trisitan Tremble and Owen Kindree. That goal set the tone for the rest of the game as Milton’s offense came alive in the second period.
Graeme MacAuley got things rolling in the second with a power play goal just over eight minutes in, with assists from Madden MacDougall and Luke Hampel. Less than three minutes later, Nathan Catalano doubled the lead, with Gabriel Ciarallo and Ivan Fabjan providing the helpers. Alexandr Siletskiy added a third goal in quick succession, capitalizing on an assist from Tremble and Markus Hicks. Ciarallo capped off Milton’s scoring with a power play marker in the third period, making it 5-0 before Trenton’s David Fournier broke the shutout with a late power play goal at 19:38.
Milton’s goaltender, Austin McKillop, was stellar, stopping 24 of 25 shots. The Menace penalty kill remained sharp, allowing just one goal on eight Trenton power plays, while their own power play units continued to excel, converting on two of their eight opportunities. With the showcase now over for Milton and their players, key take-aways show that the team can generate both offensive firepower and defensive discipline.
