March 24, 2025, Mississauga, ON – …. The Ontario Junior Hockey League today announced its First and Second Prospect Teams members for the 2024-25 season.
Eligible players were born in 2007 and 2008.
FIRST TEAM PROSPECT
Forward – Ryder Cali (Milton Menace)
Born Sept. 6, 2008, Cali is one of the youngest players in the 24-team OJHL. The pride of Penetanguishene had a big season, on and off the ice. In 51 games wth the Menace, he had 54 points (24 goals/30 assists). A first-round pick of the Soo Greyhounds during the 2024 Ontario Hockey League U16 draft, Cali made a verbal commitment to Harvard University and signed with Milton last summer. With NCAA teams now allowed to sign OHL players, Cali also signed with the North Bay Battalion, who obtained his rights in trade, in December. He played five games with North Bay this season. Born in Switzerland and raised in the Cayman Islands, he didn’t start playing ice hockey until his family moved to Ontario when he was seven.
Forward – Wyatt Jinman (Mississauga Chargers)
Jinman led all rookie across the 24-team league in scoring with 66 points (21 goals/45 assists) in 51 games, one point more than Mississauga teammate Mason Kim. Like fellow First-Teamer Ryder Cali, Jinman was born in Switzerland. Jinman’s father, Lee, a second-round draft pick of the Dallas Stars, had an 18-year pro hockey career that included time in Switzerland. Following two seasons (2022-24) in the GTHL, Wyatt signed with the Chargers this season. A 14th-round pick of the Mississauga Steelheads in the 2023 OHL U16 draft, Jinman has played three games for the OHL franchise, which moved to Brampton last summer.
Forward – Mason Kim (Mississauga Chargers)
A product of the Vaughan Kings program in the GTHL, the Toronto native signed with the Chargers ahead of this season. With Wyatt Jinman, the franchise that plays out of Port Credit Memorial Arena Mississauga had a lethal 1-2 rookie combo. Kim had 65 points (29 goals/ 36 assists) in 55 games. Kim was on Vaughan’s 2024 U18 team that won the GTHL championship. Kim and Jinman represented the Chargers and the OJHL in the Prospects section of last fall’s Battle Of Ontario against players from themCCHL in Smiths Falls.
Defence – Jonathan Kapageridis (Cobourg Cougars)
Kapageridis, who committed to the NCAA Division I University of Vermont Catamounts in November, had 30 points (8 goals/22 assists) in 37 games as he battled injury this season. Kapageridis had 14 points (four goals/10 assists) in 17 OJHL playoff games with the Cougars as an affiliate player from the Don Mills Flyers U18 AAA team last spring. The 17-year-old from Vaughan and self-described “late bloomer” was one of eight Canadian Junior Hockey League players – including five alone from the OJHL – named Oct. 23 to National Hockey League Central Scouting’s preliminary Players to Watch List ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft.
Defence – Andrew Robinson (Georgetown Raiders)
Robinson led all rookie defencemen in the league with 34 points (3 goals/31 assists) in 53 games in Georgetown this season. Robinson, who turned 17 on Jan. 8, is another OJHLer with commitments in both the Ontario Hockey League (Windsor Spitfires ) and NCAA (Providence College). The Oakville resident has played up for four games with the Spitfires this month after signing with the OHL club on March 13. Windsor made him a third-round selection in 2024. Another Vaughan Kings product, he won GTHL AAA titles at the U14, U15 and U16 levels.
Goal – Anthony Allessi (Buffalo Jr. Sabres)
Alessi turned heads in junior hockey with some outstanding first-year numbers. He went 18-10-2 with a 1.17 goals-against average, two shutouts and a 0.923 save percentage. The native of Lockport, NY is a product of the Jr. Sabres AAA program. He played games two with the Jr. A Sabres as a call-up from the club’s U16 team in 2023-24. Alessi is 2-2-0 in the 2025 OJHL playoffs. The Jr. Sabres, who eliminated the Toronto Patriots in the opening round, are playing the Leamington Flyers in the second round.
SECOND TEAM PROSPECT
Forward – Joseph Sinclair (Burlington Cougars)
Sinclair committed to NCAA Division I Bowling Green for 2026 in January. The 17-year-old is one of 100-plus commitments out of the OJ this season going to CHL, NCAA or U SPORTS programs. The resident of Hamilton had 61 points (21 goals/40 assists) in 53 games this season. Three of his goals were game-winners. Sinclair played with the OJHL Cougars as an affiliate from the Southern Tier Admirals U18 team in 2023-24.
Forward – Brody Cook (Leamington Flyers)
Cook is another two-commitment guy: London Knights (OHL) for 2025 and University of Massachusetts (NCAA) for 2026. The Michigan product had 16 goals and 31 assists in 55 games with the powerful Leamington lineup this season. He’s added five playoff points in five games for the Flyers, who are playing Buffalo in the second round. Cook played youth hockey in the Compuware and Little Caesars programs. Cook, who turns 18 on April 6, made his college commitment on Feb. 28 and signed his OHL scholarship and development agreement March 4.
Forward – Owen Fitzgerald (Lindsay Muskies)
Fitzgerald has made the transition to junior hockey as smoothly as he does the half-hour commute from his home town of Ennismore to Lindsay. From a 24-point (13 goals/ 11 assists) in just 29 games in 2023-24, he had 50 points (19 goals/31 assists) in 49 games this past season. The Peterborough Petes AAA program product was drafted by the Hamilton (now Brantford) Bulldogs of the OHL in 2023.
Defence – Drew Mclennan (Pickering Panthers)
It’s only fitting that Mclennan is shining with the Panthers, the only OJHL franchise in Durham Region. Mclennan already starred with youth organizations in the southern section of the region on Toronto’s eastern border, namely the Whitby Wildcats and Ajax-Pickering Raiders. The 17-year-old (he turns 18 in April) from Bowmanville has 29 points (5 goals/24 assists) in 56 games in his rookie season in the OJHL.
Defence – Cole Emerton (Toronto Patriots)
Yet another double-committed guy on the OJHL Prospects teams. The offensive-minded D-man committed to NCAA DI Cornell in December and the OHL’s Barrie Colts two weeks ago. Emerton was drafted 50th overall in the 2024 OHL U16 Priority Selection by the Colts from the Vaughan Kings U16 program. The resident of the Barrie area municipality of Oro-Medonte finished this season with 25 points (10 goals/15 assists) in 50 games for the Patriots.
Goal – Michael Newlove (Burlington Cougars)
Newlove is listed on National Hockey League Central Scouting’s mid-season draft rankings released in January. The tall tender wore a few jerseys this season. The former Caledon Admirals affiliate player began the season with another OJHL team, the Georgetown Raiders, before being traded to the Burlington Cougars. He also played in three games with the Windsor Spitfires, after signing with the OHL team in September. His numbers in the OJHL this season: 20-15-2 with a 2.90 GAA and a 0.920 save percentage. Newlove made headlines in November when he scored a goalie goal for Georgetown against the North York Rangers.
The OJHL is announcing its 2024-25 award winners throughout the first three rounds of the playoffs.
TOMORROW: The OJHL All-Star teams
